The Oktoberfest runs from late September through to early October and attracts many thousands of visitors to the city for beer drinking, bratwurst and pretzel eating. It is a spectacle to see with many people wearing very traditional Bavarian costumes with the ladies wearing long flowing dresses and the gentleman wearing traditional lederhosen. Much dancing and frivolity occur during the festival and it is a "Must do" event to attend if you are in the area. Even if you don’t drink beer the spectacle is quite something to see.
Munich is home to top European football team Bayern Munich who regularly can be seen playing in the Champions League at the highest level.
The city also has an extensive business district, and is synonyms with BMW who have their HQ located in very distinctive building in the city. Indeed it has the strongest economy of any city in the country.
The city is well service by transport links and has an international airport that helps service the financial centre in Munich, as well as bringing in many tourists to the region annually.
