Back to news... 08 January 2025 Can I send a chainsaw to Australia
We were asked by a customer if its OK to send a Chain saw to Australia?
Good question!
1. Shipping Carrier & Restrictions
Different couriers (e.g. DHL, DPD, UPS) have their own rules for shipping machinery and tools. Some may not allow chainsaws due to their fuel-related components.
You may need to drain all fuel and oil before shipping.
2. Australian Import Rules
Biosecurity concerns: If the chainsaw has been used, it must be thoroughly cleaned to remove any traces of dirt, plant matter, or sawdust. Otherwise, it could be quarantined or destroyed.
Customs duties and GST: If the value exceeds AUD 1,000, the recipient may need to pay import duties and GST.
3. Airline & Courier Prohibited Items
If sending by air freight, the chainsaw must not contain fuel residue as it's considered a hazardous item.
